Indie alt-rock artist Stay Over has released the music video for his latest single “Breaking Glass,” which appeared on Spotify’s New Alt playlist and has organically amassed over 100k Spotify streams, and encourages those who feel trapped inside their own head to speak up and make a change. "Breaking Glass is about trying to find a way out of your own head,” says Stay Over. “When I wrote and recorded it, I was feeling trapped. Physically and mentally. I wanted to be brutally honest about how I was feeling: Isolated. Lonely. Depressed. Second-guessing all of my thoughts because what was real and what was imaginary seemed to be blurred. No matter what, I still held on to that voice deep inside of my brain telling me to keep going. Telling me to hold on to hope. Telling me that I had the strength to break free.”
Using his art to process his thoughts and channel negative emotions into positive change, Stay Over places human connection at the forefront of his art, exploring deeply personal themes of love, loss, happiness, grief, and his own struggles with mental health to encourage people to connect, empower them to speak about their issues, and help them realize they aren’t so alone. Becoming obsessed with music and writing in middle school, Stay Over blends post-urban trap and alt rock, with a distinctive hip-hop sensibility to create vast, genre-bending soundscapes that are uniquely his own. Growing up in Philadelphia, Stay Over is now based out of Cocoon Malibu, an incubator and creative gathering place for the next-generation community of musicians, producers, directors, and visual artists and the brands that support them.
